These Cloud AWS and DevOps questions use examples you can try in a beginner project. Start with the terms you encounter in your own work.
What is a VPC in AWS?
A virtual private cloud is a logically isolated network where you set the address range and control how resources can communicate.
What is an AWS security group?
A security group controls allowed inbound and outbound traffic for associated resources. For an SSH lab, restrict the source to your own IP where practical.
What does an Internet Gateway do in AWS?
It lets a VPC communicate with the internet when routes and resource addressing are configured to use it. Security rules still control which traffic is allowed.
What is an S3 bucket policy?
It is a policy attached to a bucket that controls access to the bucket and its objects. Use it to grant only the actions and identities your workload needs.
What is a Dockerfile?
A Dockerfile lists the instructions used to build an image, including a base image, files to copy and the command to run.
What is a Docker volume used for?
A volume stores data separately from a container’s writable layer. It can preserve a database’s files after the container is replaced.
What does chmod do in Linux?
It changes file permissions, such as whether an owner, group or other user may read, write or execute a file.
Why should a CI pipeline stop when tests fail?
A failed test means a required check did not pass. Stopping keeps the failing build from progressing to later stages such as packaging or deployment.
