On 6 October 2026, Google’s Search Central team published a post announcing two curated YouTube playlists that turn its existing Search videos into step-by-step learning paths. Here is what Google confirmed, followed by our view for anyone learning digital marketing.
Confirmed facts (from Google’s post)
- Google says the Search Central YouTube channel has published hundreds of videos across series such as Search for Beginners, Ask Googlebot, Search Console Training and Search Off the Record, and that finding a clear, sequential path from scratch could be challenging.
- Search fundamentals for beginners is aimed at website owners, marketers, content creators and people new to SEO. It covers how Google crawls, indexes and serves content, getting started with Search Console (setup, performance reports and Search Console Insights), and using Google Trends for SEO and trending topics.
- Technical SEO fundamentals is aimed at developers and technical SEO specialists. It covers robots.txt, crawl stats and crawl budget, troubleshooting indexing, the URL Inspection tool, duplicate content, how browsers parse HTML, page weight, and Search Console bulk data exports and APIs.
- Google says both playlists are now live on the Search Central channel. The post is by Daniel Waisberg, Search Advocate.
Our view: what this means for digital marketing learners
For beginners, the first playlist is a sensible starting point because it comes from the team behind Google Search itself. Many new learners jump straight to keyword tools. Understanding crawling and indexing first explains why a page may not appear in results at all.
Search Console is the part we would practise most. Clients and hiring managers often ask freshers to read a performance report: which queries bring clicks, which pages get impressions but few clicks, and what to fix first. Watching videos helps, but working on a real site helps more.
The technical playlist is not only for developers. Marketers who understand robots.txt, duplicate pages and URL inspection can talk to web teams with confidence and catch problems before they cost traffic.
A simple exercise: watch the Search Console videos in the first playlist, open Search Console for a small blog or project site, list five queries with high impressions but low clicks, and rewrite the title of one page to match what searchers want. Check the result again after a few weeks.
